According to Article 10, Section 34 of the 2017 Revised Student’s Handbook of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), the following rules apply if you accumulate too many absences in a semester:
1. Absences between 20% and 50%
* If your absences reach at least 20% but not more than 50% of the total class hours (including lectures, labs, or exams), you will receive a notice.
* You’ll be required to complete additional academic tasks related to the subject to make up for missed lessons.
2. Absences of 50% or more / Late enrollment
* If your absences (or combined absences and late enrollment) reach 50% or more of the total class hours, you will be dropped from the class.
3. Dropping all subjects or filing a Leave of Absence (LOA)
* If you plan to drop all your subjects or file for leave of absence, you must get a certification from the Admission and Guidance Office.
* This must be approved by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, upon recommendation from the Director of SASO and your College Dean.
Note: Relevant rules from Article 18 of the Handbook may also apply, depending on your specific situation.
